9 Top Shortcut On The Keyboard To Become A Gmail Ninja

Gmail is filled with tricks, shortcuts, and time-saving tools you can use to kick the crap out of your email. Today, I’ve rounded up 9 of the most useful Gmail shortcuts to help streamline your email activity[...].

Move through Gmail using keyboard tricks instead of using your mouse for every last function. Memorizing and making use of the keyboard makes going through Gmail faster and more efficient, and it makes Gmail by far the best email client out there. This will increase productivity and makes you a Gmail Ninja. Even if you already consider yourself a Gmail ninja, there's bound to be something here you haven't yet discovered.

 

Before testing out these shortcuts, make sure you've enabled them in your Gmail settings. Head to

Settings > General > Keyboard Shortcuts to turn the feature on.

 

1. For Quick Compose Email

Press Shift + C to compose a new message in a new window.

2. Scroll Up & Down

Scroll between messages in your inbox by pressing K and J to access newer and older emails, respectively. The tiny blue bar to the right of the arrow indicates the highlighted message.

 

Note: ↑ {up arrow} And ↓ {down arrow} do not work here.

3. To Select a Message

As you're scrolling through your inbox, select a message by hitting X. From there, you can perform a variety of functions, such as archiving, labeling, etc.

4. Move Between Conversations

When you're in an email thread, type N and P to move among newer and older conversations. Hit O or Enter to expand a conversation.

(The blue bar to the right of the arrow indicates the highlighted conversation.)

5. Perform Quick Actions to a E-mail

Archive: When you're in an email, simply press E to archive. If there's already a label applied, the email will archive into that folder.

 

Reply & Forward: When viewing an email, hit R to reply, A to reply all, or F to forward.

 

Save Draft:If you're in the middle of composing a message and want to save for later, type Ctrl + S to save as a draft.

 

Delete: To move a message to the trash, type #.

 

Mark as Read or Unread: Once you've selected a message, either type Shift + I to mark as read or Shift + U to mark as unread.

6. Label or Move

Whether you're within a message or have selected the message from your inbox, type Lto label. A drop-down box of folders will appear. Either select one, or type the folder name to search.

7.Change Message Priority with "+" (plus) or "-" (minus)

Google's new Priority Inbox are the best part I liked about Gmail which bring the most important to the top. If it gets it wrong, you can mark any message as important or unimportant by selecting it and clicking the new plus or minus buttons in the toolbar.

If you want to do the same from the keyboard, though, you just navigate to the message you want to change using the j and k shortcuts, hit x to select the message or messages you want to re-prioritize, and then hit either the + (plus) or - (minus) sign. As you might expect, the plus sign marks a message as important, while the minus sign marks a message as unimportant.

Note: You can actually press either '+' (i.e., hold Shift and press =) or just = to mark a message as important. To demote a message, only - works.

8. Select multiple Gmail Emails with single click

This is the time saving tip when you need to delete or move some messages from your inbox.For this you can select the starting message and now press shift button on keyboard,hold down it for a while and select the ending message.Now messages between starting and ending all are selected.

9. To Get All Keyboard Shortcuts on Screen

It make take a little time to remember all the keyboard shortcuts of Gmail, but it will eventually help you to get more done in less time. When I try this Shortcuts for the first time , I don’t fell much of the Gmail experience eventually I become a master of keyboard shortcuts and now it makes more easy to use Gmail.    There is also a shortcut to view all shortcuts in Gmail at any time by typing Shift and ? (a question mark), which will give you this shortcut pop-up: “That’s Cool”
